Mrs. Lynn Edwards Dies
Mabel Ileen, daughter of Paul and Leona Welker, was born in Carroll County, near Braymer, September 12, 1900, and departed this life September 3, 1948, aged 47 years, 11 months and 21 days.
She was converted in early life, was a member of the Methodist Church at McBee Chapel and later united with the Presbyterian Church in Hamilton. She was a faithful member, always willing and ready to work for the Master:
Mabel Welker was graduated from the Braymer high school and attended the Warrensburg State Teachers College. She devoted over twenty years of her life as a successful teacher teacher in Carroll and Caldwell County public schools, and was affectionately called “Miss Mabel” by many of her former pupils.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in which she took an active part.
On July 25, 1927, she was united in marriage to Lynn E. Edwards and was a devoted mother to his two daughters, Lois and Aileen.
She leaves to mourn her passing besides her husband, the two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Lombard of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. William H. Teel of Brownfield, Texas; her father, Paul Welker; one sister, Mrs. Thurston Kincaid; two nieces and one nephew, all of Braymer, one grandson and a host of relatives and friends.
Her mother preceded her in death in April, 1946.
The funeral service was held Monday afternoon, September 6, at the Federated Church in Hamilton conducted by Rev. E.L. Setterlund. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery at Braymer by the side of her mother.
