Barbara Ann Ellington, 74, of Chesterfield County, VA, widow of Melvin C. Ellington, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014. Born in Craig County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lennie Leunetta Elmore Welch. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Marie. Mrs. Ellington spent her early life in Newcastle, VA before relocating to Chesterfield County. A devoted mother and granny, she is survived by her sons, Wesley Ellington and wife, Linda, and Gary Ellington and girlfriend, Mary Linda; grandson, JR and fiancée, Brandy; great-grandchildren, Quincy and Savannah; sisters, Phyllis Kendall and husband, Bob and Opal Horn; brothers, Bobby Welch and wife, Rosie, and Harry Welch and wife, Brenda; brother-in-law, Rufus Ellington, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Keely for his dedication to their mother during her illness. Also to all of the nurses that cared for her at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, in particular, Carla, Pat, Chet and Temple. And a huge thanks to her niece, Carol, who was such a big help during the last four months. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Chesterfield Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
