MADILL -- Graveside rites for Hazel Welch Beasley, 87, were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Woodberry Forest Cemetery with Bobby Joe Rice Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Beasley died Feb. 17, 1997, in the local hospital. She was born June 20, 1909, in Madill, to Nicholas and Ada Sears Welch.

A lifelong resident of Madill, she was the author of the high school alma mater and was founder and first president of the Madill Art Club. She opened the first flower shop in Madill and operated an antique business. She and her husband of 67 years, Guy Keel Beasley, were married here in 1929.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons, Nick and Ed, Madill; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucile Welch.

Memorials may be made to the Madill High School Alumni Educational Foundation, c/o Watts Funeral Home.
