C. Golden Welch was born in Morgan, Utah, Feb. 23, 1886. He was the eldest son of Charles A. and Mary Louisa (Hinckley) Welch and came to the Big Horn Basin in 1900 with the first company of settlers.

He was married to Mary Alice Marchant, Oct. 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and a month latter left on a mission for the LDS church to the Eastern States. Six children were born to them, Golden M. of Salmon, Idaho, Arthur M. and Ford M. of Cowley and Mrs. Brownie (Mae) Brown of Lovell. Their mother died in 1921, and they were cared for by their grandmother Welch until April of 1924 when their father married Ora Meeks in Salt Lake City. To this union was born five children; Dr. Scott M. Welch of Lovell, Mrs. Bert (Alys) Winterholler of Lovell, Mrs. Duane (Ilene) Harvey of Casper, John Charles of Larmie, and Mrs. Edward (Louise) Croft of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Survivors include his wife, Ora, eleven children, forty seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
