John A. Welch, coal dealer and former paymaster of the Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation, died yesterday after a short illness in University Hospital. He was 44.
Mr. Welch started the coal business five years ago at 1421 No. American St. While with Stone and Webster, he was active in work on the Conowingo Dam and the erection of huge coal breakers at Pottsville.
He was the father of three sets of twins, one (set) of whom died. Surviving are his widow, the former Theresa Mahoney, and the following children: Theresa, 12; Joan and Mary, 10, and John and George, 7.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow in the home, 121 Oakley rd., Upper Darby, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The were other set of twin sons who died young were born and died in 1928,at Quincy, Massachusetts - Dennis and Daniel Welch.
