Mrs. John Seitz dead

The noble act of a Mother in trying to rescue her child from flames results in her death.


The second victim of a gasoline fire at the home of John Seitz, on George Street, Marion, two weeks ago last Friday evening succumbed Sunday morning after a long and hard fight for life and the suffering of untold agonies. The first victim was the little daughter of Mr. and M rs. Seitz and this time the mother. The fire started from a piece of paper with which the child was playing igniting from the gasoline stove and in passing the can of the explosive under the table the can exploded, the flames catching the clothing of the child. The mother mad e a desperate effort to save the life of the child and in so doing her own clothes were set o n fire.

The child died during the night following the accident. Everything has been done since the n to save the life of the mother, but her injuries were of such a nature that it was impossib le, She died Sunday morning after a long and hard fight of more than two weeks, during whic h time her suffering and agony could not be described.

This leaves only the husband and two children of the once happy household, and to them the s ympathy of a host of friends is extended. The remains of Mrs. Seitz was brought to LaRue, Mon day and laid by the side of her child, the other victim of the accident.

The funeral service was held in the LaRue F. B. Church, Monday at 2 P. M. a very large concourse of friends attending.

1910 Census Carmon was living in Montgomery Township with his Uncle John Jacob Weist. John and Ralph could not be found in census for the State of Ohio.

1920 Census: John was living at 1510 Oregon Ave., Cleveland, Ohio with wife Ida aged 59. She had been born in Indiana. John was listed as a self-employed house painter. Carmon was living in the household, age 30, occupation trouble man for the telephone company, being paid weekly. Ralph was not found in the 1920 census.
