Doris E. (Weissinger) Schwaiger, 80, 1301 Sixth Ave., died at her residence on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 10:10 a.m.
She was born on March 10, 1930, in Anna, the daughter of William and Alma (Goelzer) Weissinger and they are deceased. On April 26, 1952, she married Joe Schwaiger, who survives. On their first date in 1950, she and Joe walked in Tawawa Park to the tune of "Waltzing Matilda" on his harmonica.
Also surviving are five sons, David, of Minot, N.D., Kurt, of Piqua, Mark, of Kansas, Frank, of Huber Heights, and Sam, of Seattle, Wash.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ada Carr, of Anna, and Mrs. Robert (Ruby) Bailey, of Pocatello, Idaho.
A daughter, Suzanne (Schwaiger) Bergman, died in 2005. Two sisters, Velma Weissinger and Marie Hobbs, and four brothers, Virgil, Ralph, Carl and Alvin Weissinger, are deceased.
Mrs. Schwaiger was a 1948 graduate of Anna High School. She was a seamstress. She was active in the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA in Sidney.
As per her request, her body will be cremated and there are no services.
Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home, Sidney, is handling the arrangements.
