Helen K. Ely, 87, of Dwight died at 10:10 a.m. Friday (March 28, 2008) at her residence.
Mrs. Ely was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Kinsman, to William and Mary Angela Carney Weir. She married Roy W. Ely on April 29, 1944, in Dwight. He died Aug. 4, 1996.
She is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Garold) Pfeifer, Bluffton, Ind.; one son, Douglas (Theresa) Ely, Dwight; two sisters, Wilda (Charles) Starks, Montgomery, and Anna Marie Uhren, Streator; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Sassenger, Dwight, and Vera Ely, Pontiac; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; one son, Donald Ely; and one daughter, Denise Steidinger.
Mrs. Ely attended Mazon-Verona-Kinsman schools and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dwight, and the Altar & Rosary Society.
She worked at Elwood Arsenal Plant and later was a homemaker.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
