Cyril A. Weinandy, 82, of Tiffin, died at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his residence.
Cyril was born Aug. 30, 1928, in Alvada, to the late Clarence and Magdelena (Tiell) Weinandy. He married Audrey (Donjoian) in Granite City, Ill., Nov. 10, 1951, and she survives.
Survivors include his children, Deborah Weinandy of Westerville, Michael Weinandy of Tigard, Ore., David Weinandy of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mark Weinandy of Tiffin and John Weinandy of Lewis Center; brothers, Ralph (Mary Louise) Weinandy and Luke (Mary Lou) Weinandy, both of Alvada; and sisters-in-law, Doris Weinandy of Alvada and Sat Bogosian of Chatsworth, Calif.
Cyril worked as a conductor on the railroad and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a longtime member of Izaak Walton and the Coon Hunters Lodge and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Cyril was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed trains, hunting, farming, going to auctions and spending time with his family.
Cyril was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Hiliary and Lloyd Weinandy.
His Mass of Christian burial will be noon Thursday, June 16, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Eric Culler officiating. The rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a wake service planned at 6:30 p.m., at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory in Tiffin. Burial will follow the services on Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
