Janet L. Baker (nee Weideman), age 70, of Kouts formerly of Valparaiso passed away Friday October 23, 2009 at Life Care Center of Valparaiso.
Janet was born on January 9, 1939 to Kenneth and Margaret (Hoeg) Weideman.
In 2003, she retired as a custodian from McGill's after working there for 30 years.
On October 3, 1955 in Valparaiso she married Samuel Baker who passed away in 2003.
Janet is survived by three children: Sherri (Daniel) Sellers, Danny (Linda) Baker, Shelly (Wendell) Ruwersma and step-son, Russ (Tracy) Baker; six grandchildren: Amanda, Justin, Brandon, Steven, Traci, and Matthew; two step-grandchildren: Emily and Eddie; two great-grandchildren Baiden and Aubrey; and her three dogs: Stubby, Molly and Zoey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Norma Otter.
Janet was a wonderful mother and grandmother, she loved her family. She liked having a lot of flowers wherever she lived, but most of all she loved animals especially dogs and cats. She will be missed by her family, she was a special lady. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave Kouts, IN with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
