Ivan Larue "Snowball" Wehmiller,age 84, Seymour, passed away at 10:08 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Wehmiller was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was employed with Arvin Industries for 35 years and was also a farmer and co-founder of L&L Lumber Inc. He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, where he served as a greeter. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed family get-togethers and evenings eating out and playing cards with friends. His favorite hobbies were working in his "piddle" shed and attending tractor pulls.
Born Feb. 15, 1928, in Crothersville, he was the son of Fred and Selma Tiemeier Wehmiller, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 6, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, he married Helen Wischmeier, who survives.
Other survivors include one son, Larry L. (Julie) Wehmiller, Brownstown; one daughter, Mary H. Wehmiller (Thomas) Garetson, Hong Kong; two sisters, Emy Lou (Melvin) Wischmeier, Seymour, and Donna (Robert) Downing, Vallonia; one sister-in-law, Jewell Wehmiller; two grandchildren, Crystal (Bryce) Purcell, Greenwood; Lucas (fianceé Blakli Nadding) Wehmiller, Seymour; one stepgrandchild, Jenika Garetson, Columbus, Ohio; and one step-great-grandchild, Madison Purcell, Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia (Arthur) Bishop and Gladys Wehmiller; and one brother, Lester Wehmiller.
The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, The Rev. Philip Bloch, The Rev. James Rodriguez and Vicar Joseph Barlau will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran School or Trinity Lutheran High School.
