Gleda M. Brown
Gleda M. Brown, 81, Medora, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Brown and her husband owned and operated the Medora Junction Service Station for 33 years. She retired from Rumpke in October of 1991. She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church at Medora, the Brownstown American Legion Auxiliary, Medora Senior Citizens and volunteered at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.
Born Oct. 20, 1929, in Medora, she was the daughter of Harry E. and Alice Martin Weddle, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married to James T. "Tom" Brown in Brownstown by the Rev. E.E. Pedicord on Nov. 22, 1947, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 1991.
Survivors include four sons, L. Steven (Brenda) Brown, Jerry L. (Tammy) Brown, Thomas A. (Becky) Brown and James H. (Ann) Brown, New Albany; 10 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be given to Mount Zion United Methodist Church or the donor's choice of charity.
