1870 Carr Township, Jackson County, Indiana Census on page 331, lists wife Elizabeth, age 77, occupation farmer, born in Tennessee. Also listed are children Lucy, Catharine, Sarah, John and Angeline. Also listed in same household is Sheridan Durham, farm hand. On same page and living next to Elizabeth is Anice Weddle, male and wife Eliza, along with Lucy and Fanny Weddle. Also listed is B. John Durham, age eight, relationship not given. Possibly related through the Beem family (Amma Beem was married to John Durham).


WILL AND TESTAMENT OF BETSEY GALLION

Know all by these presents, that I Betsey Gallion of Carr Township, Jackson County Indiana, on the (31) day of January (1874 ) Eight hundred and Seventy-four in this my last Will and Testament do constitute and appoint My Son John Gallion to act on my demise as My Sole Administrator and Executor of this my Will -being That he do immediately on my demise made or cause to be made a true and complete inventory and apprisement of all my goods and chattels consisting of household furniture, stock and articles of whatever kind or nature that are lawfully mine or that may hereafter accure to me during my natural life either in the shape of money or property (excepting bed with bedding which he shall immediately on my demise hand over to my son Enock P. Gallion. Share and Share the same equally for the benefit and behalf of himself and my four daughters, Lucy Ann, Katherine, Sally and Angeline Gallion until such time as they shall cease to live together as a family and then that he make or cause to be made a sale of all such property in his hands as above mentioned. The proceeds of which with the exception of Ten Dollars or his Service he shall equally distribute with himself and the above named form daughters.
In testimony of which I do here (uppon?) affix my mark or signature

Jackson County Obits--Medora news--Old Grandmother Gallion, having reached 94 years, passed to the spirit life last Sat. and was interred on the home place on Sun. following. (April, 1874)
