ATHOL- Marlene A. (Webster) Cooley, 73, of 2025 Petersham Road, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare- Campus, in Worcester, following a sudden illness.
Born on September 20, 1933 in Orange, she was a daughter of Forrest L. and Signe (Peterson) Webster and grew up in Orange, graduating from Orange High School in 1951.
Following high school, she went to college at Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island.
She was married to Dorrance Cooley on July 30, 1955. He died on May 5, 2000.
Marlene had worked for Tilli's Flower Shop and later NYNEX.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends whom she adored.
Survivors include her children, Sandra Superchi, and her husband Victor, of New Salem, Pat Hastings of Hartland, Vermont, Nelson Cooley, and his partner Ramon Bautista, of Hollywood, California, and Wayne Cooley, and his wife Angela, of Athol; three grandchildren, Molly and Amos Superchi of Chester, Vermont, and Deven Cooley of Athol; a sister, Carol Frizzell of Bedford, New Hampshire; and many nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by a brother, Lewis Webster in 1990.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning, April 19, 2007 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, 62 Cheney Street, Orange, at 10:00AM with the Rev. Andrea Hoslett, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday evening, April 18, 2007 from 6-8PM at Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104
Witty's Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
