Elizabeth Catherine Cheaney

Elizabeth Catherine "Betty" (Weber) Cheaney, 57, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.

She was born Sept. 6, 1943, in Evansville. Her parents were Edward J. and Helen B. (Relleke) Weber. She married David M. Cheaney on Nov. 24, 1966, in Evansville. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Mark Cheaney of Aurora, Ill.; three daughters, Maria Cheaney of Greenwood, Susan McDowell of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Sara Cheaney of Oceanside, Calif.; a sister, Elaine Schmits of Evansville; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Weber.

She was a 1961 graduate of Mater Dei High School in Evansville and a 1964 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Evansville.

She worked as a registered nurse for 18 years with a Greenwood family practice, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church.

A prayer service will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
