St. Louis County
Missouri, USA
Death: Mar. 21, 1982

Dorothy was the only member of the family born in Missouri, though it's unclear why the family was there. It appears they went from there back to Evansville and then to Salem, Ill., before returning to Evansville. It's unclear where she went to school. In the early 1930s, Dorothy worked as a cigar roller. In the late 1920s, she met Leo Schindler, a sheet metal worker. They married Oct. 29, 1930 - her birthday - in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Evansville. Leo owned Faultless Radiator in Evansville for 28 years. In 1960, he and Dot moved to Indianapolis where she worked as a school matron for nine years before retiring in 1976. He worked for Miners Radiator Shop for 12 years before retiring in 1974. (NOTE: Unsure what happened with the other two years between 1960-74) In 1980, their daughter Angela and her husband, Gregory Hundley, threw the Schindlers a 50th anniversary party in Evansville. Dot died of cardiac arrest and was buried at Anderson Cemetery in Indianapolis. Leo lived another 10 years before falling as he got out of bed on Christmas 1992. He died three days later and also is buried at Anderson.
