John Henry Webb 83, of 511 Glovinia Avenue, Eden died in Annie Penn Hospital at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon following an illness of several weeks.
He was born in Carroll County, Va. but had lived in Rockingham County for the past 36 years. He was a retired sawmill worker and a veteran of World War I. His wife Mary Katherine Andrews died in 1972.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Frank Meadows of Eden; two sons Lawrence Webb of Richmond, Va. and James Robert Webb of Eden; three step daughters Mrs. Magaline Handy of Route 3, Eden; Mrs. Rufus Leagen of Galax, Va; and Mrs. Robie J. Bowman of Route 2 Madison; one step son, Johnny P. Bottoms of Baltimore, Md; 28 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Christian Church near Hillsville, Va. Burial was in the church cemetery.
