RIVERTON-Gwen Amundsen peacefully passed from this earthly life to reunite with her eternal companion in a joyous reunion on May 29, 2008. She resided at 1211 West Matthews Way (11900 South) in Riverton, Utah at the time of her death.

Gwen was born into humble but happy circumstances on January 23, 1923 in Virgin, UT to Golden E. and Ada Beames Webb. She graduated from Granite High School in 1941 and shortly thereafter married her sweetheart and soul mate, Gerald A. Amundsen on May 19, 1942. From that time fourth, excepting two years of service during World War II, until Gerald's death 62-years later, they were rarely separated. Their partnership was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on their 13th wedding anniversary. Dedication and selfless service were her guiding principles and she lived her life accordingly. Motherly love and tender care was extended to more than her own children as she assumed the role of daytime guardian to many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Church service included various positions in the LDS Relief Society, Mutual, and Primary organizations. She was a positive influence and an excellent example to those whose lives she touched as she served, taught, nurtured, and blessed. An accomplished seamstress, she tailored numerous costumes, prom dresses, and bridesmaid gowns for her children and others. Alongside her husband she toiled in the garden in their quest to teach self-sufficiency. They truly lived the depression-era slogan: Use it up, wear it out. Make it do, or do without.

She is survived by one sister, Golda Larson; her six children, Flora Lynn (Samuel) Crump, Lou Jeanne Lefler, Bonnie Huntsman, Bette Romano, Jerry (Diane) Amundsen, and Janada (Tony) Johnson; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one great-grandchild, and siblings, LaVarr B. Webb, Leora Webb, Dawn Webb, and Ruth O'Leary.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Summerhill Stake Center, 12120 S. 1300 W., Riverton. A Viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Broomhead Mortuary, 12590 S. 2200 W., Riverton, and also one hour prior to Services at the Church.
Interment: Riverton City Cemetery.
