Mildred W. Barron, of James Island, SC, widow of William H. Barron, Sr., passed away after years of declining health January 9, 2013.

Mrs. Barron was born December 8, 1921 in Branchville, SC, the only child of the late J.B. Weathers and the late Carrie Hill Weathers.

She attended school in Branchville and later moved with her family to Savannah, GA due to her father's new job.

As a teenager she attended high school in Savannah and while working at a local drive-in she met her future husband William Howard Barron. When she approached the car and asked "what would you like?" He answered "I want you." They were engaged prior to his military service overseas during WWII.

Mildred and her family moved to Charleston where she attended Murray Vocational School and went to work at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in the plumbing shop.

When the war ended she and William married and had one son, William H. Barron, Jr., ten months later.

Throughout her life she loved animals and had several beloved dogs and cats. Mrs. Barron enjoyed gardening and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

She is survived by her devoted son and caregiver William H. Barron Jr. of James Island, SC; her cats, especially Cucu and Nellie Bell who slept with her; and dear friend and longtime neighbor Edie Bamberg. Her son would like to thank all of their friends for their support during this time as well as the staff for the fine care she received at Roper St. Francis Hospital and Hospice of Charleston Hospice Center. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her son.

A graveside service will be held, January 12, 2013, in Live Oak Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends, January 11, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel, Charleston.
