CLEARFIELD - Lou Jean Wayment Loftus passed away peacefully on November 22, 2010.

She was born on July 29, 1929 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Vernal Floyd and Gladys Irene Paice Wayment. She grew up in West Warren and graduated from Weber High School in 1947.

She married Lorin Dean (Bud) Loftus on December 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Clearfield on November 11, 1954.

She was a long time member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a member of the Clearfield 9th Ward where she taught primary and was a visiting teacher. She loved to go camping, reading, embroidering, and rides to Bear Lake and Ogden Canyon. She loved country music.

She is survived by two sons and four daughters: Lorin Kent (Mary) Loftus, Janet (Richard) Day, Annette (Allen) Chatelain, Tamara (Kenny) Bircumshaw, Scott W. (Carrie) Loftus and Sherry (Michael) Nance; 17 grandchldren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marvel (Floyd) Barrow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorin D. Loftus; son, Lane Dean Loftus; grandson, Ryan Mark Loftus; her parents; and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 9th Ward Chapel, 833 E. 600 South. Friends may visit family from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Services entrusted to Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.

Interment, Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT.
