Bruce William Wattenbarger, 45, veteran California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer who died Sunday afternoon following a fall from a light motor-driven cycle, will be buried tomorrow in Mt. View Cemetery in San Bernardino.

Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Stephens & Bobbit Chapel.

Wattenbarger, a native and life resident of the San Bernardino area, was a 16-year-veteran of the CHP and a World War II veteran. He lived at 444 Joyce street, Rialto.

Investigating officer Ronald E. Koenig of the CHP said Wattenbarger and two friends were riding the cycles up a narrow trail a mile south of Palm avenue near Blue Mountain in the Grand Terrace area.

Wattenbarger's friends had gone on ahead when three girls coming up the trail found Wattenbarger lying on the ground under his cycle. He was dead on arrival at Riverside Community Hospital. No marks were found on the body, the Riverside Coroner reported. The cause of death is being investigated.

Survivors include the widow, Mary K.; a son, John; and a daughter, Karen; all of Rialto; a brother, Clay of Fresno; and a sister,Mrs. Ora Belle Theurich of San Clemente.
