U.S. Veteran Mr. Charles R. "Hank" Watt, age 60, of Resaca, Georgia, and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, passed away at his residence July 19, 2009. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on July 16, 1949.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catrina M. Watt, and son, Mike Oullette.
Hank proudly defended his country from 1967 until 1970, with two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army 173rd Airborne, also known as the "Hurd". He was a Sky Soldier, and was in major combat and highly decorated including receiving the Purple Heart.
Hank was a United States Post Office rural carrier for 22 years, having been assigned to the Eastside Post Office in Dalton, Georgia.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 37 years, Karen Watt; daughter, Cindi Sutherland (John); parents, Charles H. and June (Birr) Watt; sisters, Colleen Grindle (David), Connie Westhoven (Tom); brothers, James Watt (Darcy) and Matt Watt (Laura); grandchildren, Cassie Ouellette, Mikey Ouellette, Andy Ouellette, Justin Sutherland and Dalton Sutherland. Nine nieces; 15 nephews; 18 great nieces; 16 great nephews, and one great great niece also survive.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 31, at11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4227 Bellevue Road, Toledo.
