One of Mary and Jefferson's infant children (died May 1849) is buried with William Watson (died Feb 1847) in R46/112.
In the 1880 U.S. Census, the widowed Mary was living in Washington, DC, with her children, Lafayette J. Garner (born Nov 1856) and Martha Garner (born c.1866).
"On May the 30th, 1882, at 5 o'clock p.m., Mary M., widow of the late Jefferson Garner, aged 50 years.
The midnight moon is beaming,
Upon her silent grave;
She sleepeth without waking,
The one we could not save.
Oh! chide us not for weeping,
For sorrow shades her brow;
She has gone from us to Heaven,
We have no mother now.
By Her Daughter.
Funeral will take place from her late residence, No. 1233 Union street southwest, on Thursday, June the 1st, at 3 o'clock p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend."
