She was born Aug. 3, 1898, in Springfield, the daughter of James and Eddie Burgh Yates Watson. Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Houston, in 1964; four brothers, George, James, Elmer and Arthur Watson; and three sisters, Betty Coleman, Flossie Chandler, and Lena Robinson.
Mrs. Houston was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth W. of Litchfield; two daughters, Edie H. Harris of Springfield and Lena H. Banks of Taylorville; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services at Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Samuel W. Hale Jr. officiating. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
