Thelma Vea Claibourn, 74, Fredonia, died Friday, April 20, 2001, at Via Christi Hospital, St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.
She was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Fredonia, the daughter of Ed and Marian Baker Watkins.
She was a homemaker, and also had worked as a clerk at Cox's Variety Store.
She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Fredonia. She was active with the Girl Scouts and Wilson County 4-H organization, and served as a camp host at Fall River State Park.
She married J.R. Claibourn in Fredonia on Dec. 1, 1943, and he survives.
She also is survived by two daughters, SueElla Creager of Fredonia and Martha Lara of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel, Fredonia, with the Rev. Gary Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at Fredonia City Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-7:30 p.m. Tuesday; the family will receive friends from 6-7:30.
