Mrs. Bishop was born in Clayton, Georgia, to the late Conway and Frankie Fountain Watkins.

She grew up in Clayton where she graduated from high school. She soon moved to Perry where she would settle and begin her career in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base, where she worked for 39 years. Gail loved her family and the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Each year, she looked forward to the annual family vacation to the beach. Gail enjoyed working with her husband in the yard, making sure that each tree and shrub was planted in just the right spot, even if it meant he had to move it. For years, she has cherished her little pet Yorkies and the comfort they have brought to her during her illness. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis Watkins.

Left to treasure the memories of "Nana" are her beloved husband of 15 years, Bobby Bishop of Perry; her children, Deanna Taylor Revell (Jeff) of Perry, and Jay Taylor (Melissa) of Nashville, Tennessee; her step-children, Roger A. Bishop (Christy) of Macon County, and Robbie Bishop (Carrie) of Perry; her siblings, Dot Chastain, Marie Queen, Tom Watkins (Regina) and Janie Hill; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. and her sweet Yorkie, Sassy.
