Mary Foree Waters Aldridge, 86, of Milroy, died Monday, August 4, 2014, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

Born December 12, 1927, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Ace Lee and Lucy Jarboe (Offutt) Waters. On August 6, 1949, she married Earl Aldridge who preceded her in death in 2006.

Mrs. Aldridge was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She worked at Southeastern in Rushville after graduating from Rushville High School in 1946. After marriage she stayed home to raise her five children who were the joy of her life. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and BPW Birthday Club. In 1970 she started working for the Milroy Post Office and became Postmaster in 1977. She remained in that position until retirement in 1990. Mrs. Aldridge loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include five children, Stephen Aldridge of Milroy; Mary Lucy (Mrs. Joe) Harcourt of Rushville; Diane (Mrs. Jim) Lanter of Cheraw, S.C.; Michelle (Mrs. Joe) Skowronek of Mooresville; and Brian (and wife Janna) of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother William Offutt Waters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Mary Jarboe Waters and brother Colonel Ace Leo Waters, Jr.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Burns Funeral Home in Milroy, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church of Rushville, IN.

Believed buried in Calvary cemetery in Rushville.
