Lizton - Mrs. Julia Ann Leak, wife of the late David Leak, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Shirley, Sunday. Funeral services were held, Tuesday morning at the Christian church, burial in K. of P. cemetery.
Julia Ann Leak, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Waters, was born near North Salem, August 4, 1848. Departed this life September 7, 1924, having been an invalid for 23 years.
In the days of her youth she united with the Christian church of Lizton and through all the years has been a faithful follower of her Lord and Master. On December 17, 1865, she was united in marriage to David V. Leak. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Etta Logan of Danville, Mrs. Nellie Shirley, of this place, and Lizzie who died in infancy. Mrs. Flowers Spencer, of Thorntown, was reared from childhood in this home. Before afflictions came to her, "Aunt Julia," beside the devotion to and care of her own family did so much in helping to care for the sick, always ready to do the things most needful. After the death of the husband and father in 1912, she made her home with her children. These years were spent in patience and cheerfulness. She leaves besides the two daughters, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, a host of relatives and friends. She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps of Lizton.
