Mary V. Wassall, age 95, passed away on April 24, 2011, at Indian Rock Village, Fairfield Bay. Born in Joliet, IL, on April 15, 1916, she moved to Gary, Indiana, in 1929. Mary retired from US Steel in 1982 and moved to Fairfield Bay.


She is preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Florence Bombassaro; two brothers, William and Joseph Bombassaro; and husbands, Jerome Hansen and James Wassall.


She is survived by daughter, Patricia Manville of Shirley; grandson, Jeffrey Petersen of Heber Springs and granddaughter, Stephanie Petersen of Branson, MO; also by three great grandchildren, Kyle, Noah, and Emily. Mary also leaves behind two stepdaughters, one stepson, plus many stepgrandchildren and great grandchildren, plus loving nieces and nephews.


Mary was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Fairfield Bay and was past president of St. Francis Altar Society, past president of Fairfield Bay Literary Club, past president of Indian Rock Village Health Care Auxiliary, past president of JUGS, active in American Legion, VFW Auxiliary, Log Cabin Museum, AARP, PRPOA, and Lions Club. Mary also served 10 years on CWS Water Board.
