Mamie F. Turner, 79, of London, died March 19, 2006, after a short illness.

Born in Smithers, she was the daughter of the late George and Lillie Johnson Washington.

She was united in marriage to the late George "Sparky" Turner.

Mamie was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery where she served as a church trustee; the Pulpit Committee; User Board chairman; the Culinary Committee chairman; and Naomi Chapter #10 OES Daughter of Isis.

She was co-owner of Turner Dry Cleaners and Employee Progress Dry Cleaners, Montgomery, and a former employee of Montgomery General Hospital.

Surviving: her loving sisters, Marguerite Thomas of Washington, D.C., Martha Ruffin of Baltimore, Md., Mary Carter of Detroit, Mich., and Loretha (Art) Roever of Montgomery.

Service was March 25 at the First Baptist Church, Montgomery, with the Rev. James Lynch officiating. Interment was at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
