She became a piano prodigy of the late Mrs. Ada M. Kennon at an early age. She united with Mt. Calm, St. Rest Baptist and other churches, serving as a musician. She worked faithfully as a youth musician in other ministries in the Northwest 14th District Baptist Association.
In 1972, she graduated from the former Charles H. Brown High School in Springhill and attended Grambling State and Louisiana Tech universities. She became an honorary member of the Class of 1972 of the former Webster High School. She was employed by the Louisiana Department of Social Services for 12 years and worked a number of years at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Brown Jr. of Minden, La.; step-daughter, Meredith Monique Hollingsworth and husband Patrick; step-grandchildren, Kelsi, Jaylen, Jazlyn and Leniyah Hollingsworth of Monroe, La.; father-in-law, Walter Brown Sr.; sisters-in-law, Delia Penton and husband Jimmy Cal, Diane Seamster and husband Rickey, Loretta Dupree of Minden and Janice Law and husband Johnny of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, Jerry Brown of Sibley; five cousins; and a host of friends.
