Justin B. Warriner Dies
Justin Bliss Warriner, 77, of this city [Northampton] died this morning at the home of his son, Edward L. Warriner, at Charlemont. He leaves his widow, Evelyn (Stone) Warriner; three sons, Ralph of Pontiac, Mich., Justin of New York and Richard of this city; four daughters, Mrs. Herbert Sanderson of Pontiac, Mich., and Alice, Evelyn and Anna of this city, two brothers, William of Conway and Henry of Shelburne, and five grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 at the Florence Methodist church and burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery. [Springfield Republican, Springfield, Mass., February 11, 1930]

Note: Justin B. Warriner had nine children, and left eight children at his death, five sons (Edward L., Justin B., Jr., Ralph W., Edwin R., and Richard L.) and three daughters (Jessie [Mrs. Herbert Sanderson], E. Alice, and Anna Jeanne) not three sons and four daughters as indicated in the obituary. The daughter who went by her middle name of Alice, was born as Evelyne Alice Warriner. This may have been confusing to the writer of the obituary and may account for the listing of a daughter, Evelyn, in addition to Alice.
The Warriners were also guardians over four young children of Henry A. Warriner who was a widowed (1919) brother to Justin. One of these children was Evelyn Warriner, and when the obituary was prepared, she may have been confused as a child of Justin.
