Gospel preacher and teacher at Freed-Hardeman University. Warren first came to Freed-Hardeman as a student when his father, Thomas B. Warren, was serving as an instructor. He played on the baseball team for two years while enrolled in the three year Bible program. During his freshman year, he was voted Class Favorite, and during his sophomore year his fellow students voted Warren both Class Personality and Mr. FHC. Warren also served as both member and officer of professional and social clubs throughout his student tenure. Warren received his Phd in Communications at the University of Oklahoma. He formerly served as Campus Minister for the University of Tennessee at Martin and at Freed-Hardeman. He preached for 20 years at the Northeast Church of Christ in Moore, Oklahoma. In 2000 he began working at Freed-Hardeman University as Professor of Speech. Son of the late Thomas & Faye C. (Aver) Warren. United in marriage, May 26, 1973, to Susan Poteet. Dr. Lindsey D. Warren, 59, of Henderson, died Sept. 24, 2009, in Corinth, Miss. Funeral services were held Sept. 27 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer with David Lipe and Mike Waters officiating. Interment services were held Sept. 28 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo.

He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas, the son of the late Thomas B. and Faye C. Brauer Warren. He married Susan Poteet on May 26, 1973. Dr. Warren graduated from Chester County High School and Freed-Hardeman College, where he played baseball. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harding University in Searcy, Ark., and received his M.A. in Christian Doctrine and Apologetics from Harding University Graduate School of Religion in Memphis. He completed his PhD in Communication at the University of Oklahoma, where he became a Sooner fan for life. He preached for 20 years at the Northeast church of Christ in Moore, Okla., and began working with Freed-Hardeman University in 2000 as a Professor of Speech. He formerly served as Campus Minister for the University of Tennessee at Martin and at Freed-Hardeman.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan Warren of Henderson; a son, Thomas Bart Warren (Laura) of Ramer; two sisters, Karen Waters (Mike) of Arlington, Texas, and Jan Coleman McCoy (Ron) of Jonesboro, Ark.; twin grandsons, Loukas and Titus Warren; and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Warren was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jon Coleman, and a nephew, Jon Warren Coleman.
