ST. IGNATIUS – Mass of the Resurrection for longtime Moiese area resident Frances Warner Schaan, 70, was celebrated Monday, April 24, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with the Rev. Gus Schmidt S.J. as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery.
Mrs. Schaan died of cancer Thursday, April 20, 1995, at her home north of St. Ignatius.
She was born Oct. 14, 1924, at Spokane, Wash., to Chester and Imelda Warner. She attended schools in the Blackfoot (near Missoula) and in Missoula.
April 14, 1942, Frances and Peter Schaan were married at St. Frances Catholic Church in Missoula. Frances worked for Missoula Livestock for 12 years, but the highlight of her life was being a wife and mother.
She lived in Missoula with her family until 1971, when they moved to Moiese. In 1990, Frances moved with her husband to the St. Ignatius area where she resided until her death.
She was a member of the Catholic Church, D-Aste Woman's Club and Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Schaan, of the family home north of St. Ignatius; a son, Tony Schaan, and wife, Kristy of Helena; a daughter, Mary Rodda, and husband Ken of Ronan; four grandchildren, Jasen and Shawn Rodda and Michael Ann and Jessica Schaan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Betty Lou.
The family suggested memorials to Lake County Hospice, P.O. Box C, Polson, MT 59860; or to the St. Patrick Cancer Center in Missoula.
Pallbearers were Ken Rodda, Pat Schaan, Tony Schaan, Bob Lulow, Bob Schaan and Fred Tapia. Honorary pallbearers were Adam Kirsch, Chuck Johnson, Dick Morganstern, Joe Lucy, Ken Piedalue, Harry Whalen and Ron Olson.
Arrangements were by Riddle Family Funeral Chapel of St. Ignatius.
