Donald Henry Warner, 72, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Sun., Aug.23, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 22, 1937 in Whittier, CA to Henry and Geneva (Taylor) Warner. Don graduated from West Seattle High School in 1955 and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. On March 23, 1963 he married Mary Jean Rinell, they were married for over 40 years until her passing in 2003. Don was a Mason and belonged to the Vancouver Moose Lodge. He was a certified scuba diver and enjoyed diving off the California Coast. Don's passion was fishing, he loved his fishing trips to Alaska and the Washington Coast. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends on Friday nights. Don had worked on the Apollo Space Program, Hearst Publications, overseas in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and later as a truck driver. He felt blessed to have traveled all over the world. Don is survived by his daughter, Mary A. Warner and son, Donald V. (Cheryl) Warner of Vancouver; daughters, Diane M. Simmons, Susan E. Gettmann and son, Donald R. Arnold all of Seattle; his sister, Betty M. Linnemann of Anchorage, AK; and fiancÚ, Sharon Miller of Vancouver. In addition to his wife Jeannie, he was preceded in death by his father, Henry in 1963; and his mother, Geneva in 2001. We would like to thank Hospice Southwest and NW Healthcare for the wonderful care they gave Don in his final days. Visitation will be held on Aug. 26, 2009 12-9:00 p.m. At Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A graveside service with Military Honors will take place at Aug. 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. At Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Hospice SW, Memorial Health Center, 100 E. 33rd St., Suite 201, Vancouver, WA.
