Ann Marie Warner was born on December 28, 1957 the first of two children to Clyde and Lillian Warner.

Ann was raised in the North Bend area and graduated from North Bend High School in 1976. She attended Southwestern Oregon Community College, in North Bend. At SWOCC, she joined the musical group, The Southwesters, performing as a pianist and vocalist; here she met Matthew Luke, and they were married July 11, 1981 in North Bend. Ann was the ultimate supportive partner, working as a bank teller while Matt finished school at Oregon State University. After his graduation from OSU and USAF Officer's Candidate School, she and Matt moved to Vandenburg AFB in California. She made a beautiful home for them on base and was employed by Vandenburg Federal Credit Union.

Ann was incredibly talented and smart. In addition to her musical abilities, she was a skilled seamstress and loved to crochet. She had a keen financial sense, which not only made her excel in the work-place, but also helped she and Matt stay afloat on a military salary. Ann's beautiful nature made her friends wherever she went. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She was a woman of great faith and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

In 1985, Matt realized his life-long dream and earned his private airplane pilots license while Ann completed the Ground School portion of training. In May, Ann and Matt left Lompoc in single-engine Cessna, planning to fly home to North Bend, to visit family. Bad weather met them and they were forced to set-down in Redding, California, camping overnight under the plane. The next morning, Thursday, May 23, 1985, they were cleared for take-off, but never made it home. A search for them ended in additional tragedy when a search plane went down with three people on board; there were no survivors. In June of 1986, the USAF declared Matt and Ann legally deceased and released their belongings to their families. Four years later, in April of 1990, the wreckage of the plane was discovered near Remote, Oregon.

The remains of Ann and her beloved, Matt, were interred together at Willamette National Cemetery on May 7, 1990.
Ann was survived by her parents, Clyde and Lillian Warner, of North Bend, her brother, and grandmother, Catherine Lapping, also of North Bend.
