Mary Estabrook was born July 31, 1920 in Portland to Raymond and Ruth Warner. She served in the U.S. Army 46th General Hospital for four years. On February 15, 1946, she married Alfred Lee Estabrook in Portland. He survives, residing in Astoria.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Estabrook completed her nursing training in 1941 at Emanual Hospital. She was active at the local state and national level in improving the quality of life for the developmentally disabled. She and her husband started Haystack Gardens in Cannon Beach in 1977.
She was a Stephen minister through First Presbyterian Church in Portland and was a member of Lewis & Clark Bible Church. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and reading. She was always thinking of others and meeting their needs, family members said.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Douglas Estabrook of Oregon City; a daughter, Laura Wood of Camano Island; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Estabrook.
A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15 at Lewis & Clark Bible Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis & Clark Bible Church Missionary Fund, 35082 Seppa Lane, Astoria, OR 97103.
