Mrs. Nellie Houghton, 90, widow of the late Clark H. Houghton, died at Warner Nursing Home this morning. She had been a patient for nine years, and formerly resided on Harvard Street.
A daughter of William and Mary (Elwell) Warn, she was born Sept. 15, 1874 in Bennington and had lived there all her life. She had attended local schools and was married Oct. 23, 1900 to Mr. Houghton. Her husband died more than 50 years ago.
Her home and family had been her main interest. She was a good neighbor, especially with the children while she was active.
Survivors are one son, Myron W. Houghton of Bennington, one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Mary) Bump, also of Bennington; one grandson Wayne Houghton of Hoosick Falls, New York; three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Mahar and Son Funeral Home, Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Melvin R. McGaughey, First Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, when the family will be in attendance.
