Telitha C. (WARDLAW) VOYLES GRANTHAM. Born November 1843 in Georgia. Daughter of Rev. William Jackson & Mary (POER) WARDLAW – her father was pastor of a Methodist church in Columbus in the 1850s and 1860s. Married first to Mr. VOYLES, by whom she had two daughters. Married second about 1861 to Wilbur F. GRANTHAM, by whom she had two daughters and three sons; one of these, James W. GRANTHAM (b. ca. 1874) evidently died before 1900. Appears with her husband and children on the 1880 census of Hampton, General Militia District #723, Henry County, Georgia, and the 1900 census of General Militia District #257, Jackson County, Georgia. Homemaker, member of the Methodist church. Died July 19, 1903, at Flovilla, Butts County, Georgia, following a year's illness. Funeral was conducted July 20 from the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. T. J. ARMSTRONG, at 735 Second Ave. in Columbus, officiated by Rev. L. J. BALLARD. Interment at Linwood Cemetery, with the pallbearers being Messrs. A. S. BROOKS, Elmer FUBER, Clay KNOWLES, W. H. MATTHEWS, D. B. MITCHELL, and I. F. PEARCE. Survivors included her husband and six children: Mrs. W. H. [Elmedia] MORRIS and Mrs. T. J. [Leonora] ARMSTRONG, both of Columbus; Mr. G[eorge] H. GRANTHAM, of Atlanta; Mr. C[larence] F. GRANTHAM, of North Georgia; and Misses Mollie and NELLIE VOILS, of Flovilla, Ga. [ref. Columbus (GA) Ledger newspaper, 20 JUL 1903, p. 7 & Enquirer Sun newspaper, 21 JUL 1903, p. 3].
