TROY - Francis Marion "Frank" Wardlaw, Sr., 89, of 310 Murrell St., Troy SC, very beloved husband of Carrie Lorena Langford Wardlaw, died September 2, 2012. Born in Troy, February 23, 1923, he was the son of the late W.W. and Annie Bradley Wardlaw. After graduating from Greenwood High School, he proudly served in the US Navy during World War II and was with the Task Force that captured the German U-boat No. 505. He worked as a clerk at Cox's Store; graduated from Piedmont Technical College in one of their first HVAC classes; worked with Devore-Andrews; and retired from Cullum Electric. Frank served as the Mayor of the Town of Troy for 39 years.A lifelong member of the Troy Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, he served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Treasurer and was designated as an Elder Emeritus of the church. In addition to his faithful wife of 60 years, Frank is survived by five children, Karen (Dan) Ford of Crawfordville GA; Elizabeth Lewis of Panama City Beach FL; Susan (Bil) Heath of Greenwood; Frank (Becky) Wardlaw, Jr. of Honea Path; Mary Jo (Dane) Colbert of New Windsor MD; and nine grandchildren whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. A memorial service at the Troy ARP Church. The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.
