"Mrs. Oscar Anderson
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 24, 1954, for Mrs. Oscar Anderson, who passed away Tuesday Sept. 21, at the Story County Hospital at Nevada. A prayer service was held at 1:15 p.m. at the home, and at Memorial Lutheran church at Nevada at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Ernest P. Windman officiating. She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Roland.

Music was furnished at the home by Dick Couser, accompanied by Mrs. Chester Pearson. He sang "The Lord's Prayer". Pfc. Allen Anderson, accompanied by Leslie Henderson, sang two songs at the church, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Abide With Me". Casket bearers were nephews, LaVerne Anderson, Ernest Anderson, Donald Springer, Donald Anderson, Vernon Ward and Marley Anderson.

Those from a distance were Mrs. Anderson's brother, Harley Ward of Aurora, Ill.; Misses Ellen and Nellie Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ove Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Anderson of Forest City; Mr. and Mrs. Mandius Farland and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jorgerson of Manley, Mrs. Allen Peterson, Mrs. Richard Patter and Mrs. Herman Haayer of near Buffalo Center, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Stoll and Mrs. Eva Grierson of Lohrville, Pfc. and Mrs. Allan Anerson of Fort Riley, Kans., and Mr. and Mrs. George Reng of Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Vinnie Ward Anderson was born August 29, 1893, southwest of Colo, a daughter of Mrs. Merritt Ward and the late Merritt Ward. She lived her entire life in Story County with the exception of six months which she spent in South Dakota.

For six and a half years she taught in the rural schools. On Jan. 14, 1920, she was united in marriage to Oscar Anderson of Nevada at the Bergen Lutheran parsonage in Roland. The ceremony was performed by Rev. G. Smedal. To this union was born one son, Edward Andrew.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Methodist church at Colo, later transferring her membership to the Memorial Lutheran church in Nevada. She was an active member in the church groups and the McCallsburg Legion Auxiliary, the Royal Neighbors, Eastern Star, and Valley View Club.

She is survived by her husband Oscar Anderson, one son, Edward, her mother, Mrs. Merriett Ward of Colo, two brothers, Harley M. Ward of Aurora, Ill., and Fay Ward of Colo. Her father preceded her in death in 1949."
