Son of Jerome and Mathilda Wandler, Earl was born on the family farm near New England, N.D., on July 21, 1939. After graduating from high school, Earl attended Dickinson State College before entering the Air Force. Following his discharge in 1964, Earl came to Billings and went to work for Pierce Packing. After the closing of Pierce Packing, Earl worked as an auctioneer and continued to be involved in charity auctions after starting Earl's Chimney and Furnace Cleaning. He ran the business for 20 years until retiring due to his health. On June 24, 1964, he married Mary Slattery in Billings. Earl was a member of St. Bernard's Parish, St. Pius Verein in Scheffield, N.D., and a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He also coached Little League baseball for many years while his children were growing up. Survivors include his wife Mary; four children, Jerry Wandler of Billings, Michelle Kawane of Woodbridge, Va., Chad Wandler of Birmingham, Ala., and Kara Harris of Billings; four grandchildren; his mother, Mathilda Binstock of Dickinson, N.D.; three brothers, Clarence Wandler of Billings, Richard Wandler of New England, N.D., and Leo Wandler of Bismarck, N.D., and a sister Louise Grove of Mandan, N.D. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister Janet Haugrose.
