ALICE "ALLIE" SYVILLIE WALTERS GOINS ETUE

Allie was born in Township 6,(Brandon) Mississippi, June 6, 1867 to her parents (Old) Mose Oliver and Suvillia A. (Walters or Watters) Walters,Sr.(some say she was Mose's cousin.) Allie's mother,Suvillie A. was the second marriage of Old Mose,Sr.

Allie died April 13, 1940 in Rohwer,Desha, Arkansas. She was living with her son Marion Etue and his family in the 1940 census. (Family name spelled Utu in the 1940 census.)Allie was seventy years of age. The census were taken April 16, 1940, three days after she died. No one seems to know where she was buried, or if she even had a gravemarker for her grave. * I have placed her in the Memorial Cemetery in Rohwer, Arkansas where she died until I can locate her burial place. CS.

Tracie Curnell, "The Family Researcher" for this family has gathered most of the data I have on Allie and her husband Theodore Etue. (See Theodore's Memorial Page # 93189755 for more about thier life together.)

Allie's daughter, Bessie Lou Etue Stites came to spend a week with my mother Mattie Oma Walters Coe and my family in about 1970. Mama and Bessie's parents were half brother and sister. If Bessie took after her mother, then Allie must have been a wonderful, caring person, because that was how Bessie Lou was. I was delighted to sit and listen to my mother and Bessie Lou share their life history. They giggled like young girls and were best friends when Bessie lou's vacation was over and she returned back to California.

In 1969 I recieved a letter from Allie's son, Charles Andrews Etue. I knew he was a fine gentleman even though I had never met him when I read his letters. He shared what he knew about his family with me and most of all he shared his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and his greatest hearts desire was to tell others about God and His Son Jesus. Wonderful! He died April 1978, so I am sure he fulfilled his hearts desire and now for several years he has been having a wonderful family reunion with his Father, mother and his brothers and sister, for they have all passed on to heaven.(Christmas Day 2013.CS.)
