Mrs. Katherine Walsh Higgins was born to Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Walsh at Blaine, Kansas, October 19, 1881 and departed this life December 7, 1965 at the Santa Fe Convalescent Nursing home in Topeka, Kansas. She grew to womanhood and was married to Henry F. Higgins of Blaine, Kansas in St. ColumbklUes Church on June 20, 1904 with Rev. Father Hilary officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Higgins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 20, 1954. Gramie or Aunt Kate as Mrs. Higgins was fondly known to relatives and friends will be deeply missed. ' Mrs. Higgins was preceeded in death by her husband, Henry F. and one great granddaughter, Jody Keating. Mrs. Higgins is survived by two sons and two daughters, Brian H. Higgins, Englewood, Colorado; Mark R. Higgins, Ft. Riley, Kansas; Mrs. Margaret A. Keating, Blaine, Kansas, and Mrs. Georgia Robert, Muncie; 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Anna Finan and Mrs. Teresa O’Shea of Kansas City, Kansas, and Mrs. Margaret Cantwell, Wamego, Kansas; and a host of relatives and friends. Rev. Father Ray Lierman, a cousin, was celebrant at the Requiem Mass in Immaculate Conception Church in St. Marys, December 10, 1965. Stephen and Michael Fox, grandsons, and Edward and David Brunin, grandnephews, were servers. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ryan sang the Requiem Mass. Burial was in the family lot in St. Columbkilles cemetery at Blaine, Kansas.
