Roy Clifton Walls, 83, of Amarillo died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim W. Smith, senior pastor emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by DAV Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St.

Roy, an Amarillo resident of 76 years, was born April 28, 1925, in Washburn, to Roy and Norine Baker Walls. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific during World War II.

On Feb. 15, 1947, Roy married Edna Louise "Ginger" Mitchell. He owned and operated Walls Implement in Amarillo for 28 years.

Mr. Walls lived in Boerne from 1998 to 2004. Roy was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and Tascosa Country Club, where he loved to play golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Don Walls; a brother, Richard Walls; and a sister, Linda Clark.

Survivors include his wife, Edna "Ginger" Walls; two sons, Doug Walls of Weatherford and Tommy Walls and wife Melinda of Katy; two daughters, Beverly Akins and husband Doug of Denton and Annette Gruben and husband David of Boerne; nine grandchildren, Tonja Denson, Cristal Denbow, Erin Gross, Whitney and Jordan Walls and Samantha, Sierra, James and Lily Walls; six great-grandchildren, Brooke and Seth Vaughan, Trinity and Trooper Denson and Caroline and Jonathan Gross; a great-great-grandchild, Stratton Molloy; three sisters, Ruth Houston of Houston, Velma Lou Sellman of Euless and Hazel Dockery of Grand Junction, Colo.; and his pet dog, Abby.

The family suggests memorials be to Meals on Wheels of Amarillo; or St. Stephen United Methodist Church Library, 4600 Western St.; Amarillo, TX 79109.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
