Jeanne Wallis Kirker, 80, broke new ground in her career but always said raising 5 children was her most important job. She died peacefully on Tue., Oct. 18th, 2011 @ the Homeland Center in Harrisburg.
Jeanne was the daughter to Roseanna & Frank J. Wallis, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dr. Walter R. Kirker, her daughter Judy Accettola (Paul), & brother Frank J. Wallis Jr.
She leaves behind her daughters Jane Conroy(John), Donna Morgan (Bernard) & Kelly Murray (John), along w/her son Robert & sister, Virginia Klear. In addition, Momma Jeanne will be dearly missed by her grandchildren; Julia, Kathryn, Sean & Christopher Conroy; Ryan, Jason, & Maoria Kirker; Jeanna, Casey, Alison, & Andy Accettola; Nicole, Bernard IV, & Daniel Morgan; Katelyn, Kristen, Laura & Adam Murray.
Jeanne was a graduate of William Penn High School, Temple Nursing School, Elizabethtown College, & Penn State Hershey. She became 1 of the 1st certified nurse practitioners in Central PA.
Throughout her life, she stood beside her soulmate Walter "Bud" Kirker. She was his partner in love & in work. Together, they helped to start the Hamilton Health Center in Harrisburg, established Planned.
Parenthood of Central PA, & became certified sex therapists under Masters & Johnson. To their many friends & family, they also became well known for their homemade Christmas cards.
An avid athlete, Jeanne won a senior national racquetball competition @ the young age of 60. She loved scuba diving, tennis, golf, gardening & traveling the world. Her favorite spots were Almosta Farm & their home in Dauphin along the Susquehanna River. She & Bud are now resting comfortably, watching those again.
Memorial svc. will be held on Sat., Oct. nd, @ p.m., @ the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 1-3 p.m., @ the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation can be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 2058, Harrisburg, 17110 or to the Homeland Center, 1901 N. 5th St., Harrisburg, 17102.
