Elita Adkins ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lillian Elita Adkins, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 25, 2015, after a brief illness. The funeral service will be at 3pm on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Gable officiating. Burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-2:45pm at the church. Born in Rock Hill, Mrs. Adkins was the daughter of the late William Pressley Wallace and the late Janie Elizabeth Johnson Wallace. She was a lifelong member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. She and her husband, Bill, were the owners of Adkins Grocery and after retirement she became a loving homemaker for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Bill Adkins; her daughters, Linda Messer (Robert), Karen Boyd (Mark) and Debbie Smith (Wayne), all of Rock Hill; her daughter-in-law, Linda Adkins; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, Rick and Scott Adkins. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Adkins' name to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or to Bethesda Cemetery Fund, 4858 McConnells Hwy., York, SC 29745. Her brothers -in -law Marion and John Adkins and sister-in-law Louise R Adkins. as printed in her husbands obit.Mr. Thomas L. "Bill" Adkins, 93, passed away at his home on Monday, September 5, 2016. Services will be Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Adkins was the son of the late Thomas Adkins and Mae Clinton Adkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Elita; two sons, Ricky and Scott Adkins; two brothers, Marion Adkins and John Adkins and one sister, Louise Russell. He is survived by three daughters, Linda Messer (Robert), Karen Boyd (Mark) and Debbie Smith (Wayne).

Mr. Adkins was a lifelong member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as the co-founder of the York County Coon Hunters Association. He and his wife Elita were owner/operators of Adkins Grocery for many years where he shared his gift of gab with all his customers. Mr. Adkins served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII and was part of the D-Day invasion.
