Wallace was the son of General Lew Wallace, author of "Ben-Hur." He had gone to Crawfordsville to attend the premiere of "Ben-Hur" at the Cohan Theatre and was in good spirits and apparently in the best of health. He was found dead in his bed at his son Lewis' home.
