Nannie George Atwood, 83, died Thursday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at Trigg County Hospital after a long illness.

A native of Trigg County, she was born January 21, 1898, the daughter of the late William and Zerilda Reese Dew. She was first married to Felix Wallace, who preceded her in death in 1954, and later married Eulice Gordon Atwood, who preceded her in death in 1976.

She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at Goodwin Funeral Home Saturday, July 25, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Grandville Courtney and Dr. Joe Segree officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Suzanne Henry and Mrs. Alice Guess, singers, with Clarence King as organist. Burial was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jasper (Adalene) Thomas of Cadiz and Mrs. Gene (Geraldine) Rapien of Sorenta, Ill.; four stepsons, Elmer, Tom and Robert Atwood, all of Collinsville, Ill., and Rev. Ernest Atwood of Livingston, Ill.; one step­daughter, Dorothy Dellamano of Collinsville, Ill., 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a number of step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Garry Thomas, Steve Moore, Ronnie Leneave, Tom Atwood, Robert Atwood and David Vayles.
