WILLOWTON — Clara Alice Walkup Arnold, 94, of Willowton, lovingly known by her family as "Mimmie", departed this life to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Willowton on April 17, 1913 and was the daughter of the late Carl T. and Annie Hale Walkup. She was a faithful member of the Willowton Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, John G. Arnold; one daughter, Karen Arnold Reed; one grandson, John Wayne Cottle; four sisters, Mable, Virginia, Dot and Helen; and three brothers, Junior, Lawrence and Bud.

Survivors include four children, Sylvia Jean Stalvey and husband Hubert, June Cottle and husband John E., Frances Stauffer and husband Carmen all of Willowton, and Sharon Fisher and husband Ronnie of Pearisburg, Va.; and son-in-law, Danny Reed of Peterstown, W.Va. Mimmie was grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Willowton Christian Church with Minister David Stauffer (grandson), Minister Michael Robertson, Minister Carl Bowles and Elder Dickie Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at the Willowton Community Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Cottle.

The family will receive friends at the Willowton Christian Church from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Willowton Christian Church or the Willowton Community Cemetery, Rt. 4, Box 529, Princeton, WV 24740.
